The joy of the birth of my son was shadowed be the anguish of my husband, Odysseus, leaving us to fight at Troy. Now I am being plagued with suitors whom I have no interest in. To keep them at bay, I told them I would select a new husband after I finish a shroud for my father-in-law. But little do they know, I unravel my days work every night. Before my husband left he made me make a promise that I am not sure I can keep. He made me swear to take a new husband by the time our young son is a grown man. I will never give up hope that he will return home to me and Telemachus. Our love runs deep, deeper than any feelings I could gather for any other man. I pray he returns home safely.
